About Resource Packs
Resource packs are the simplest way to change the look of Minecraft. A pack can retexture blocks and items, replace entity models, change sounds, fonts and the user interface. Servers can also ask players to download a pack when they join, so everyone sees the same custom items and menus.
Texture and model resources are grouped here together because they are delivered the same way: as a pack the client loads. Shaders, which change lighting and water, are a separate kind of resource and are listed under Graphics.
Packs differ in resolution, in how closely they follow the vanilla style and in what they require from the client. Some animated packs need a companion mod to display their custom models. Read the pack's own page for supported versions, requirements and its licence before you bundle it with a server.
Frequently asked questions
Will a resource pack hurt performance? Higher resolutions and complex models use more video memory and can lower frame rates on weaker machines. Try a pack yourself before recommending it to players.
Can I require players to use a pack? Servers can prompt players to download a pack, and a player can still decline unless you require it. Keep the file small so joining stays quick.
Each page lists three clearly separated parts: Featured Resources (paid placements), Trending Now (recent engagement) and Resources (approved by review, newest first). Approval means a resource met MCRank’s listing requirements; it is not an endorsement.
