Vanilla-Style Resource Packs

The most downloaded resource packs do not reinvent the game's art; they refine it. Three different approaches are listed here.

Faithful 32x doubles the resolution of the default textures while keeping the original designs, so every block looks familiar but cleaner. It is maintained by a community team and has tracked each Minecraft release for years.

Bare Bones removes detail instead of adding it. It strips textures down to a flat, trailer-like style that is easy on weaker hardware and popular for clean screenshots and videos.

Fresh Animations adds animated models to mobs. Its animations depend on a companion mod to render custom models, so read the pack's page for exactly what it needs before you promise it to your players.

Check each pack's licence. Some allow redistribution in a server resource pack and some do not, and a pack that is free to download is not necessarily free to bundle. A server resource pack should also stay small, because every new player has to download it on join.

Do these packs need mods? Faithful and Bare Bones are plain resource packs. Fresh Animations needs extra mods for its animated models; its page lists them.
