About Pterodactyl

Pterodactyl splits game server management into a panel, where owners and players click, and a daemon on each machine, which runs servers in isolated containers. What a server type needs, such as the start command and install steps, is described in a definition called an egg.

Extensions change the panel itself: new pages, new settings and a different look. Because the panel holds server credentials and can run commands on your machines, an extension is a security decision, not a cosmetic one. Prefer extensions that publish their source and say which panel versions they support.

The panel software itself is listed under Dashboards and Panels, next to the other panels it is compared with. This section only lists the add-ons.

Frequently asked questions

Are extensions safe to install? An extension runs inside your panel with access to its data. Install only extensions whose code you or someone you trust has read, keep the panel backed up and test on a copy first.

Each page lists three clearly separated parts: Featured Resources (paid placements), Trending Now (recent engagement) and Resources (approved by review, newest first). Approval means a resource met MCRank’s listing requirements; it is not an endorsement.

MCRank is Minecraft resource search and discovery. Featured placement is its paid visibility layer: owners of approved resources bid weekly to appear first, labeled Featured, on the page their resource belongs to. Payment buys placement, not guaranteed clicks, traffic or sales, and never an MCRank endorsement.

Paid Featured placement is not available at the moment.
