The first screen a player sees on a server is not the world but the interface around it: the tab list that shows who is online, text floating over the spawn, and characters that explain where to go. Three kinds of plugin build that.
Tab list plugins change the list shown when a player holds the tab key, and often the name tags above players and the sidebar scoreboard. TAB covers these together and reads data from other plugins through placeholders, so it can show ranks, balances and server names.
Hologram plugins place floating text, and in newer versions items or blocks, at fixed positions. DecentHolograms and FancyHolograms both do this; FancyHolograms is built on the display entities that Minecraft added for the purpose, which keeps them light on the server.
NPC plugins create non-player characters that run commands when clicked, which is how many servers build a lobby menu or a guide at spawn. FancyNpcs does this using packets, so the characters do not exist as real entities in the world.
Keep it restrained. A spawn with ten holograms and a scoreboard of twenty lines is hard to read, and every animated element costs client frame rate.
Do these work on Folia? Some do. FancyHolograms and FancyNpcs list Folia among their supported platforms; check each plugin's page before you install on Folia.
Will holograms cause lag? Display entities and packet-based text are light, but hundreds of animated holograms are not free. Measure with a profiler if you add many.
MCRank is Minecraft resource search and discovery. Featured placement is its paid visibility layer: creators pay to appear first, labeled Featured, on the page their resource belongs to and in searches that resolve to it. Payment buys placement, not guaranteed clicks, traffic or sales, and never an MCRank endorsement. It is bought by the owner of an approved resource, from their account.
Paid Featured placement is not available at the moment.
